This month favours work that requires precision and concentrated effort.  You will enjoy the process of working patiently and tenaciously to achieve your result.  Although you are always ambitious for success your expectations are quite modest and right now you will be a formidable opponent because of your capacity to pay attention to the detail and consider alternatives. In this frame of mind collaboration with others will be relatively easy.
This month you will concern yourself with marital, business partners or teammates and focus on the quality of relationship that you have with these individuals.  Typically, the New Moon brings with it new opportunities and new directions.  If you're in a marriage or a permanent relationship, you may find that this is the time where you seek to do something differently or take the relationship to a new level.
In business, partners may need to review certain aspects of the business and in particular, the nature of their relationship and how well they do business together.
This particular placement of the mind brings into focus our willingness to get along with other people and make concessions.  When trying to understand their perspective: difficult relationships can often find common ground and positive relationship is continued to expand.

The Year Ahead

As Mars makes a contact with your Sun up to the end January, there is an opportunity for you to connect, socialise and make plans for the New Year. Use it wisely as it will set the tone for the next 2years! This is an important cycle and I have explained it in the monthly column. The biggest growth opportunity exists for those born at the beginning of the sign and is about eliminating those things you no longer need and forging ahead with determination. You want to succeed and have the capacity to focus as never before. The one drawback is that you may become overbearing if you don’t use the energy for constructive and purposeful gain. Initially, you may experience something like swimming through treacle in order to achieve your goals. It’s a time for you to reconsider what you want to achieve and make any necessary adjustments. Keep going and take time out to rest.

Relationships may prove to be difficult. The degree of ease or difficulty you experience will be directly proportional to your level of resistance and if you're reluctant to make change or let go of outmoded values, you could experience significant discomfort.

For those born around 11 - 30 January you should look closely at opportunities that present themselves as they might look superficial yet there will be something missing or incomplete and once the excitement is over they won’t be so attractive…so take care and kick in your natural talent for caution.

Although Capricorns appear patient, steadfast and practical this masks their greatest quality, which is ambition. I have yet to meet a Capricorn that is not ambitious, whether it is for themselves on their chosen path, for members of their family or others. They will either be striving personally or be the master craftsman for others however they do in a controlled and generally quiet way.

Capricorns achieve because they are persistent, often moving slowly, taking one step at a time, and having enormous amounts of self discipline.

More generally, they are considered to be very reliable, cautious and will work through considerable hardship if circumstances require it. Combined with such a strong sense of self discipline is an equally strong sense of duty and responsibility and with great patience and persevere to work industriously toward their goal keeping the practical realities of any situation are usually the uppermost in their mind.

They tend to be one of the more conventional signs and are not prone to emotional freedom or permissiveness. When they make commitments they usually keep them and they are very loyal.

Deep down, most Cappies lack confidence despite their self doubt and will work to acquire symbols of wealth and status if only to prove to themselves they are good at what they do. In particular, the acquisition of material objects is a way of validating themselves and building their security.

Falsely, they have accused of being secretive, which is not the case. Often they don't feel the need to enter into discussions with others until it is deemed necessary as they are more self-contained than other signs. This of course can cause problems with partners and others as effective communication is one of the more significant Capricorn challenges!

Relationships can present Capricorns with a considerable challenge, particularly intimate relationships as their natural reserve and lack of self confidence can make connections with others quite challenging, particularly for the younger folk. When it comes to emotional attachments they are just as conservative, calculating and cautious and yet above all there are loyal and faithful. There is shyness about them, in love, that can be quite appealing and they will have to work to express how they feel on an emotional level. This is often the lament of Capricorn partners however they will never give you reason to doubt their commitment or loyalty.
